Liebster Award Nomination
What is the Liebster Award?
The Liebster Award is one given by bloggers to new bloggers. It is a way to get to know new bloggers, their likes, and their interests. It is a chain letter, of sorts, in which each nominee, should they choose to accept, writes a post answering 5 questions asked by the blogger who nominated them.
I just happen to have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Carrie Ostergard of Lights And Sirens Kind of Life. Carrie has become one of my dearest friends, whom I wouldn’t have “met” had I not started blogging. She is amazing, and has a knack for finding some sweet deals, especially at Target. Thank you, Carrie, for nominating me! You rock, mama!
- On your blog, thank the blogger who nominated you for the Liebster Award.
- Link back to the blogger who awarded you.
- Upload the award to your blog. This can be done in the post, and also on your sidebar by uploading the image to your widgets.
- Answer the questions you have been asked.
- Nominate 5 blogs with less than 200 followers you believe deserve to receive the award.
- Notify the owners of the 5 blogs you’ve nominated so they can accept the award. Bloggers can be nominated more than once, giving their readers more chances to learn about them.
My Liebster Award Acceptance
Seeing as how this award makes it easier for my readers and fellow bloggers to learn a few things about me through some fun questions, I fully accept it. Without further ado, onto Carrie’s questions:
What inspired you to start blogging?
I first started blogging before Pinterest existed. I wanted to share different projects I worked on and recipes I felt others could benefit from. I started on a free WordPress site. I’ve since cleared it off and passed it to my daughter. I started Sage Creek Meadow as a way to connect with other large families, and help families of all sizes live a less expensive life through meal plans, budget help, diy, and inexpensive meals. It has recently evolved to also include posts about mental illness. As a mother with PTSD, anxiety, and depression, I wanted to show other mamas it’s ok, and they aren’t alone on this journey. Four of my seven children also suffer from PTSD. I wanted to give support to the parents in the same boat as I, and share the things I’ve learned and am still learning.
What is your favorite holiday?
If I had to pick one, and live without the rest, it would definitely be Christmas. It’s not even about the gifts! I am more into the traditions and emotions instilled in the holiday by my family as I grew up. This was the one time each year my entire family could actually get together, and we made the most of it. Handmade decorations, decorating the tree together, hanging the outdoor lights at my grandparent’s house, and the food…oh the food! I make the same Christmas dinner for my family as my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents did before me. Recipes have been passed down, and I continue to pass them on to my children. To me, it’s all about tradition and being together. My husband HATED Christmas before we met. Now, he gets more excited about it than I do! I love seeing the excitement on his and my children’s faces! I’m SLIGHTLY obsessed with snowmen, and everyone knows if they ever get me a gift, any time of the year, it’s perfect if it has a snowman on it.
What movie could you watch over and over and never get tired of it?
This one is super easy to answer…The Grinch with Jim Carey. It hardly ever leaves the dvd player thanks to my youngest, and gets watched almost daily. When she wants to watch it, it gets turned on multiple times a day. It was MY movie, but now she swears it’s hers. She’s lucky I love it! She has dubbed Cindy Lou Who with the name Cindy Who Who (she’s 2 so she can’t say it right), and herself Annie Who Who. She has even named her Austrolorp chicken Cindy Who Who.
What is your favorite food?
I grew up in southeastern Arizona. Mexican food is my all time favorite type. If I had to pick one particular food in that category, it would be my dad’s green chile. I love to make it, roll it into burritos, and freeze what we don’t eat that night for future lunches and dinners. It is absolutely AMAZING! If you would like to try it, you can find the recipe here. I’m not kidding…they are DELICIOUS!
Are you a coffee drinker, and if so, what is your favorite kind?
I love coffee. In the winter, it is my blood. I can’t stand it cold, and it’s really hot most of the summer, so I usually stick to it more in late fall, winter, and early spring. In the summer, it’s iced tea and energy drinks. My favorite coffee is Folgers Classic, with some flavored creamer and sugar. My favorite creamers are French Vanilla, Amaretto, and Irish Cream by Carnation. I’ve been known to use Cinnamon Vanilla and Pumpkin Pie. I grew up with my mom using the Carnation Original, but as an adult, I can’t stand it. I hate milk or cream in my coffee. My husband drinks his with Carnation Original, and thinks I’m nuts for using the other flavors.
